The Internet TESL Journal's
Self-Study Quizzes for ESL Students

Introduction

The Self-study Quizzes Project is a group of quizzes produced by ESL/EFL teachers around the world. Anyone who is interested in trying to write a few quizzes to add to our collection should feel free to participate. All acceptable submissions (meaning probably all submissions) will be put online and may be accessed by students all over the world at: http://a4esl.org/q/h/.

Note (October 2002)

We prefer to put new quizzes on as Flash Quizzes. See a4esl.org/q/f/ for examples. See a4esl.org/q/f/data_writers/ to find out how to submit data for quizzes.

How to Write a Quiz

An Easy Way for Any JavaScript-enabled Browser

An Easy Way for Macintosh Users

The "Traditional" Way

  1. Visit one of the existing quizzes which has the type of questions you wish to write.
  2. Save that page as "source", to get the HTML version onto your disk.
  3. Read the "source" with a text editor or a word processor.
  4. Delete the unnecessary stuff, add your own stuff. (Just substitute your own questions and answers in place of the existing ones.)
  5. E-mail it to: (The Internet TESL Journal).
  6. We will then put it online and link to it from the self-study quizzes main page.
